We typically follow the public school schedule for vacations and snow days. Our season runs from September to June, ending with our end of the year recital performance. The dates that we are closed due to holidays are always posted in the studio as well as on our website the previous week. Please remember to check these signs and the website often to keep up to date with whats happening at the studio.
It is expected that students attend class regularly and on time. If your child is late and mises proper warm-up they may be at greater risk for injury, especially Ballet, Jazz and Tumbling.
Students who miss classes can attend make-up classes with another dance class on another day. This is determined at the teacher's discretion. Refunds and credits are not given for missed classes. You are always invited to make up a missed class with another group.
PLEASE notify the studio if your child will be absent due to extended sickness, serious illness or a family emergency.
Ice, snow and other weather related conditions sometimes force us to cancel classes and close the Boutique. Please listen to the radio (Froggy97, Z93, The Border 106.7) and watch the television (WWNY-7, WWTI-50, Your News Now Channel 10) for closure listings if inclement weather occurs. Also, check our website for more information on the status of our cancellations. We try and contact every family before a cancellation is made but due to work situations we may not be able to get a hold of you before you head out to dance.
The Dance World Annual Recital is held in June typically at the State Office Building on Washington Street in Watertown. A small fee of $2.00 to $4.00, in the form of admission tickets, will be asked from each dancer's family to help cover the cost of recital expenses. However, each dancer will receive 2 complimentary tickets to the recital.
Each child will need a costume for the recital. Costumes range from $40 to $50 and are chosen by the teacher with price in mind. Costumes need to be ordered by January so that we will receive them in time for the show. All costumes must be paid in advance. A costume will not be ordered unless Dance World has received full payment.
We require a $10.00 costume deposit to be made in September, October, November and December with the remaining cost of the costume to be paid by January 15th. Students that enroll after September will be required to pay the missed costume deposits their first full month of class with the exception of students who enroll after January 15th who will be required to pay the full costume price.
Each child will receive an award for their recital performance.
We ask that no street shoes be worn on our dance floors. There are chairs in each studio for parents, but we encourage you to sit in the waiting room where we have viewing windows. We realize that our youngest dancers may need to have someone they know close to them so you are always welcome in our dance rooms, however, if your street shoes are wet, snowy, muddy or sandy please consider removing them before you enter the dance rooms.
All family, friends and other staff in the waiting area must keep the noise to a minimum to ensure maximum concentration and attention from the dancers. If you are in a dance studio when class is in session, please be quiet as it may distract the dancers. Your cooperation offers Dance World the opportunity to let parent's observe their child's classes.
There is absolutely no food, soda or gum allowed during dance class. Only water is acceptable on the dance floor.
We ask that dancers be respectful of all teachers, staff and peers. We also ask that dancers be responsible by being on time to class, dressing properly for class and taking care of their belongings.
